Thank you message from President - Tokyo Concours d'Elegance 2010

This year's Tokyo Concours d'Elegance enjoyed hot, sunny weather every day, with cars parked on grass, overlooking Tokyo Bay at Shiokaze Koen in Odaiba.

I'd like to thank many people for making the event such a success. First the owners of the 47 beautiful classic cars that entered the Concours, from the 1909 La Licorne to the 1975 Ferrari 365GT4/BB. This year's "Best of Show" was a wonderfully restored 1930 Rally ABC that impressed all the judges. This year's team of judges was an international group, with three members coming from Italy, one from Germany, one from the US and the rest of our experts from Japan. Also a big thank you to Diners Club our partner sponsor this year and the numerous car manufacturers who supported us financially and by showing their latest products on the Concours field, as did Blancpain, the watch brand of choice. For the first time at a Tokyo Concours d'Elegance test drives were offered to Diners Club members who personally drove luxury and sports cars, including Tesla's all electric roadster. Great fun was had by all.

Alfa Romeo, Bentley and Maybach all launched new cars in Japan straight after the official welcome press briefing on July 22.

Alfa Romeo celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday July 24 by inviting 500 Alfisti to join a lunchtime barbeque and filled the car park next to the Concours site with hundreds of red and yellow Alfas.

The Gala Awards dinner was a packed affair with 300 people in attendance to acknowledge the winners and to enjoy the spontaneous entertainment provided by "Magic Cyril" and Hideki Togi.

Other dinners during the event included an invitation-only Maybach night to introduce their spectacular new Landaulet and the Facelifted 57. The next night Leonardo Fioravanti made a presentation to the Ferrari Club of Japan and a few other select guests about his views of Formula 1 racing. A thought provoking speech that included some original ideas for re-designing Formula 1 cars.

The main tent which was home to Diners Club and Citibank throughout the event had the added attractions of the 1989 Batman movie Batmobile as well as Nissan's Infiniti Essence concept car on display.

Already planning is starting for 2011. So if you register with us we will keep you informed about date, location and contents for Tokyo Concours d'Elegance 2011.

Regards
