Rendezvous with Elegance
Japan’s 1st Classic Car Concours d’Elegance
"Tokyo Concours d’Elegance" accomplished successfully

It was announced by Paul Goldsmith, president of Tokyo Concours d’Elegance, Elite Corporation, that “Tokyo Concours d’Elegance”, the first full-scale classic car Concours event in Japan, held on October 26 and 27, ended successfully:

1. The pre-event (Parade Run) commenced at Harumi Triton on October 25. More than 20,000 business people and local residents of Harumi Triton watched the start of the run. 16 classic cars participated and drove to Roppongi Hills through Ginza and Omote Sando, colouring the Tokyo evening twilight.
2. 105,000 visitors came to Tokyo Midtown on October 26, the official judging day of the event, and 86,000 visitors came on October 27, the public day. (As stated by Tokyo Midtown management office).
3. The number of visits to the official website in October was more than 300,000.

Despite the bad weather on both days, many people visited Tokyo Midtown, the event site, showing that there is a high interest in classic cars in Japan.

The " Best of Show " Concours car, the highest award of the event, chosen by a distinguished group of judges on October 26 was a " 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental D.H.C. by Carlton ". On October 27 the general public had a chance to vote, and chose a " 1937 Jaguar SS100 ", as " Best of Show by Public ".

The " 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental D.H.C. by Carlton " being voted as " Best of Show " was a fine choice as it is a classic car with lots of elegance and dignity. The choice showed that the panel of judges was highly knowledgeable and experienced. Likewise, the " 1937 Jaguar SS100 " voted as " Best of Show by Public " is also a graceful classic car that made the event shine with its beauty despite the bad weather. The organizers of the event appreciated not only the team of judges, but also the general public for their discerning eyes and good taste.

The event especially benefited from the support of Mercedes-Benz who brought two unique classic cars over especially for the event, Parmigiani-Fleurier who supplied the matching his and her watches for the "Best of Show" winners, Nissan for showing the new Nissan GT-R in public for the first time after its Tokyo Motor Show launch and Audi for displaying two of their precious museum cars.

Tokyo Concours d’Elegance organization office has already started preparations for the second “Tokyo Concours d’Elegance ” in the autumn of 2008, (exact dates and venue to be confirmed). New information, including the schedule for 2008 will be regularly updated on the official website (www.concours.jp).
