Scotch, cigars and Rolls-Royce
The late Shigeru Yoshida, the famed Prime Minister, had many stories about his love for Scotch whiskeys, cigars and his Rolls-Royce. This Rolls-Royce appears on many photographs and films with him. It is a Rolls-Royce 25/30hp Sports Saloon by Hopper, one of the famed coachbuilders for the manufacturer. Yoshida’s son-in-law, Tagakishi Aso acquired the car in England and brought it to Japan where it served as the first car for Prime Minister Yoshida and the Aso family. Considering the history of the automobile in Japan, as well as contemporary history, this car can be considered to be one of the most important of its era.
