D6 1968: Lamborghini Miura P400S

The Miura made Lamborghini an instant internationally acclaimed brand. Only its rolling chassis was shown at Turin Motor Show in 1965. It was given a code name, P400, which stayed with the car into its production. The engine was an expanded version of the 350GT V12. The chassis was designed by GianPaolo Dallara, with the engine mounted in the rear. The P400 was shown at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966 with a body designed by Bertone. The elegant and eccentric design by Marcello Gandini was regarded as the first success of many of his successes. After a few design changes, the Miura P400, whose name was taken from a famous fighting bull breeder in Spain, was put into production. In l968, it went through minor changes and the engine power upgraded to 370ps. This is the same model as the entry displayed, a P400S. Only 140 cars were manufactured until it was replaced by the P400SV in 1971.
