The Silver Cloud of 1955 was the second generation of steel-bodied saloons manufactured by Rolls Royce. The earliest model was given a straight 6-cylinder, 4.9L engine from the Silver Dawn. However, the 1959 Silver Cloud and subsequent models had a V8 OHV, which was also used in the Bentley 8-cylinder model. The Rolls Royce Silver Cloud though had a uniquely different frame from other models. This drophead coupe has a subtle elegance, and is one of the most impressive models created by a specialist coachbuilder for Silver Clouds. The Silver Cloud II may look like a standard Silver Cloud Saloon steel body simply made into 2-door convertible. However, that
was not the case as one of the most prestigious Rolls-Royce coachbuilders, H.J. Mulliner, made special aluminium bodies exclusively for this model.
