The Bentley R-Type is a reformed model of a standard steel-bodied saloon, the "Mark VI", the very first production series for Bentley. As with other Bentleys, the rolling chassis of R-Type were sold to coachbuilders in Great Britain and overseas. Consequently, there were
many special bodies made by different coachbuilders. The entry on display, a drophead coupe by Graber, is regarded as the most special. Very few bodies like this example were ever made by Graber, the coachbuilder from Berne, Switzerland. Typically many Bentleys had heavy classical style bodies. Compared to those, this elegant Graber D.H.C. looks modern with its unified body and well-balanced
proportions. It's more like a lightweight sports car.
