The 507 is BMWs first genuine sports car after the famous 328. It used the altered 502 3.2 limousine engine to reach 150ps, with a new short chassis and beautiful roadster body designed by Albrecht Graf
Geruch. The German-American car dealership owner, Flax Hoffman, was deeply involved in the making of this model from its inception. He had helped commercialize the Mercedes-Benz 300SL in the past and
hoped to sell a model similar to the 300SL for a lower price with mass-marketing strategies. However, his attempts ended in failure because there was a long time lag between the car's motorshow debut and the start of sales. The price also couldn't be brought down and it was as expensive as the 300SL. As a result, only 252 were manufactured. Fortunately, its scarcity and the beautiful styling by Geruch are highly valued among collectors today.
