B3 1935: Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Close-Coupled Saloon by Barker

The Bentley 3.5 Litre marked the beginning of the era of Derby Bentley. Derby is the city where the former Rolls-Royce factory was located. Derby Bentley refers to the Bentley cars manufactured under the ownership of Rolls-Royce. These cars were different from what the founder, W.O. Bentley, used to engineer. They had a lower slung sport chassis as used in the Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP with a slightly more powerful 25/30 HP engine unit. The original Bentley fans who loved the spartan sports cars didn't accept the new models, saying that Derby Bentleys were improper. However, new Bentleys attracted many new fans and eventually these new Bentleys regained the confidence of original Bentley fans. Thus, these cars earned the title of Silent Sports Cars. This entry is a 2-door sport saloon by Barker, with well-balanced styling. For many years it has been one of the most famous Bentleys in Japan.
