A6 1929: Alfa Romeo 6C1750SS Spider by Zagato

The Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 series brought Vittrio Jano fame as one of the best automobile engineers of his time. This car is regarded as one of the greatest of Italian vintage sports cars. The latest technology used in the Alfa Romeo Grand Prix Cars was at Jano's disposal when he made this commercial car. It is equipped with a DOHC 6-valve engine, almost too high tech for a commercial car of that era. The 6C 1750SS (Super Sport) in the earlier series had a Roots supercharger, reaching 85ps, unthinkable for a commercial sports car at that time. Consequently, it did well in races such as the Mille Miglia and the Ulster TT. The 6C 1750SS and its successor, the 1750GS, are particularly legendary in terms of their designs. The elegant beauty of the Racing Spider designed by Zagato and Touring greatly influenced the designs of European sports cars such as Rileys.
