2009 Tokyo Concours d'Elegance
Concours d'Elegance is about more than the elegance of classic cars, it is a contest that recognizes the distinguished history of each car and rewards owners for preserving as close as possible each vehicle's original condition.
Villa d'Este in Italy (since 1929) and Pebble Beach of USA (since 1950) represent the pinnacle of classic car beauty and have become the standard by which all other events are measured.
Tokyo Concours d'Elegance follows the judging standards of the world famous Villa d'Este of Italy.
The judging panel includes motor-journalists and classic car specialists from around the world who gather to examine the cars strictly in line with international standards.
The highest award is determined upon date of manufacture, marque, country of manufacture and so on.
The world of classic cars takes your senses into a different time zone.
Dreams and passion live in classic cars, many of them having lived through tumultuous times. Fashion, music, cars, you will feel much closer to the glamorous world of classic cars than you can imagine.
The life of classic cars is eternal.
Taking full advantage of being located in central Tokyo, the event takes place on the uppermost floor of one of the city's tallest skyscrapers. It is the world's first urban-type venue which operates regardless of weather conditions. Classic cars - "moving art" - full of energy, even when stationary, will show off their true elegance.
See visionary concept cars.
Many of the concept cars were made before 1970 and will be shown for the first time in Japan.
